“Beauty, Who is She?” uses visual themes from pop culture to explore the subtle ways in which the models express their identities. In “Beauty, Who is She?”, the artist appropriated the fashion, aesthetics and color palette from Disney’s Cruella to create a bold arena for the posed subjects. By standardizing the overall visual themes of the photo shoots, the artist aims to focus the viewer more narrowly on the subtleties in body language, pose composition, and attitude of the subjects. To evoke the on-site fashion shoot atmosphere of the exhibit and increase the intimacy of the experience, the work was displayed on the narrow walls of a moving truck.
